Administrative Boundaries


Collaboration is an integral process in collecting and maintaining administrative boundary data; whether working with Federal, State, or local governments maintaining good relationships is essential.

Collaborations the Base Map Service Center is currently involved with:

  • The Administrative Boundaries Theme Lead collaborates annually with the US Census Bureau, local governments, and Monnana Census and Economic Information Center to education and ensure participation with the US Census Bureau's Boundary Annexation Program (BAS).
  • The Administrative Boundaries Theme Lead works on a bi-annual basis with Montana's Office of Public Instruction to complete the US Census Bureau's School District Review Program (SDRP).
  • Collaborates with the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation on Rural Fire District Boundaries and Conservation District Boundaries.
  • Montana's Department of Labor and Industries (DLI) to manage and maintain DLI Business Boundaries.
