GIS Mission

To insure that geo-spatial data is used to promote the economic and physical well-being of Montana Citizens by efficiently and effectively interacting and coordinating with state and federal agencies, local governments, tribes, private enterprise and GIS coordination groups to build an intelligently collected, well maintained and widely distributed enterprise geo-spatial framework in Montana.


ITSD Mission & Guiding Principles

The ITSD provides state agencies and customers information technology services in a fair, timely and responsive manner. The services provided ensure that the state’s information technology infrastructure is reliable, secure, and cost effective and meets the business requirements of state agencies and citizens. The ITSD will provide the leadership necessary to ensure that the state gains full benefit from its current and future investments in technology.

Guiding Principles

We are accountable and responsible in the decisions we make, we use good judgment, we take pride of ownership in our work, and we empower our employees to operate in an environment where they are responsible and accountable.

We establish rules, standards, tools, and procedures for agencies to follow so that they can better fulfill their missions.
  • People Development: We believe people are the heart of our organization. We are committed to building, nurturing, and preserving a highly skilled ITSD workforce.
